|With the Christmas Season in our midst, it would be easy to expect a pic here with a more festive theme. However, for those of us in the Nintendo-verse, 'tis the season to be jolly for an all-new and entirely different reason...|
BAYONETTA IS COMING TO SUPER SMASH BROS!!!
From the moment Bayonetta 2 was announced as a Nintendo Wii U exclusive title (Nintendo having bought the publishing rights from Sega), a tiny seed of hope was planted in me that Bayonetta would appear in the next (then upcoming) Smash Bros. game. As the release date drew ever closer, that hope only continued to grow, along with my reasons for it. After all, while Bayonetta IS an M-rated game series, so is Metal Gear Solid. And they seemed to fit Solid Snake into the Smash Bros. franchise without too much difficulty. Granted, Bayonetta practically oozes sexuality out of every pore. But as Smash Bros. was released and some other members of Nintendo's female roster began to spice things up a bit (such as Zero Suit Samus with her leg-lifting win pose or Palutena's "pole dance" taunt), this made any concerns about Bayonetta slightly less warranted.
Apparently, I was far from the only one to reach this logical conclusion. True, there were those who continued to call us mad, hopeless dreamers. But when Nintendo released their Smash Bros. DLC Fighter Ballot several months ago, the movement came out in force, sky-rocketing Bayonetta to #1 worldwide. With the people having spoken, Nintendo knew exactly what they had to do.
So to all of us "Nintendites", we stand united in celebration, having received a very pleasant early Christmas gift. And to Bayonetta, a most heartfelt congratulations. While you may not have the tenure most of the other characters on this roster enjoy, that makes you no less deserving to be a member of this pantheon. You may have come in as the red-headed stepchild, but you now stand with the greats as an equal.
Now just wait until the Amiibo comes out. ^_^
With that, I'll simply close by saying, to all those who stand with Nintendo or not, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year, too.^_^
