Happy Hallo-weekend, y'all! Hope you had fun!^_^
First of all, let me just say that this is NOT part of my latest art set. In celebration of the Halloween season, as well as the joyous recent release of Bayonetta 2 onto the Wii U (the original Bayonetta being one of my favorite video games of all time^_^), I decided to throw this pic together. When the game was first announced as a Nintendo-exclusive title, this image almost instantly popped into my head. And given that Bayonetta is a witch, to say nothing of the Nintendo-themed costumes she gets to wear in-game, now seemed like as good a time as any to get this image out of my head, which shows Bayonetta acquainting herself with her newly adopted video game family in her own unique way. However, not everyone quite knows what to make of this new arrival. Some are reacting to her with concern, some with aggravation. And yet one, whose modesty leaves them slightly embarrassed, at the same time, can't help but feel a sense of awe at the powerful female presence who has suddenly joined their ranks.
It goes without saying that I should have (and indeed wanted to have) this pic finished and posted a week ago. But even though I knew this pic was going to be more complicated than anything else I had thought up with for Halloween, even I was COMPLETELY unprepared for how much time it would take for this pic to finish. Never mind the fact that I am digging deep, DEEP into my repertoire here (it's been YEARS since I've done ANYTHING anime-style). But even ATTEMPTING all the bells and whistles on Bayonetta's outfit was an entire project unto ITSELF. It also didn't help that the original idea of the pic had to be altered. My initial plan was to have all the characters in the scene, until I realized that there was no POSSIBLE way I could fit everyone in. So the planning stage took longer than expected as I had to negotiate a compromise that would allow me to put everyone I wanted in the image. To that end, I had hoped to have the pic at least completed over the Halloween weekend, if no on Halloween, itself (as I'm pretty sure many, if not most, took the opportunity to turn the entire weekend into a three-day long freakout). Unfortunately, various other distractions and obstacles ended up materializing and taking away from time I could have spent getting this pic done faster.
Still, it was all worth it in the end, though. As each respective part of the image took shape, I only grew happier with the results and more determined to see it all the way through to the end. So with that, I give everyone this image that I hope you'll find was well worth every second of the days of effort I put into finishing it, despite the lateness. Enjoy.^_^
UPDATE: I made a few small changes to Bayonetta's appearance. A little eyeliner and some slight tweaks to her mouth make ALL the difference.^_^
